Total Hip Replacement (Arthroplasty)

In some cases where total hip replacement has been recommended, our surgeons can perform the surgery in a less invasive manner than what used to be the norm. Rather than the procedure requiring a 10 or 12-inch long incision, we can now accomplish total hip replacement by making one or two smaller incisions. This newer approach requires less muscle dissection, minimal pain, quicker recovery and faster rehabilitation.

Total Knee Replacement (Arthroplasty)

Total knee replacement surgery has advanced significantly in recent years. Our surgeons are passionate about staying up to date on the latest advancements in technology and procedures. A total knee replacement is only recommended when conservative, non-invasive treatments have not been successful. In these cases, the pain caused by an arthritic or damaged knee is affecting the enjoyment of everyday life.

Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty

Unicompartmental knee arthroplasty is a partial knee replacement. During the degenerative process of osteoarthritis, sometimes only one part of the knee is damaged and needs resurfacing. If your surgeon recommends this procedure rather than total knee replacement, your recovery and rehabilitation time will be less.

Revision Total Joint Replacement

If a previous joint replacement (hip or knee) develops problems, a revision total joint replacement may be necessary. Part or all of the existing joint prosthesis may need to be replaced. Our surgeons are usually able to perform this procedure on an outpatient basis due to the sophisticated technology and protocols used in our facility.

Knee and Shoulder Arthroscopy

To repair an injury or degenerative problem in the knee or shoulder, arthroscopic surgery may be recommended. An arthroscope is a fiber-optic scope that is inserted into the knee or shoulder and is used to evaluate and/or treat torn cartilage, remove loose pieces of cartilage or bone, reconstruct ligaments or perform cartilage transplant. Arthroscopy is also sometimes used for general diagnostic purposes.

ACL Reconstruction

When the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in the knee is torn partially or completely, it must be replaced. One of our expert orthopedic surgeons will replace the ligament with new tissue, either from another part of your own body (autograft) or from a donor (allograft). Over time, the replacement tendon will grow into a new ligament.

Rotator Cuff Repair

When conservative, non-invasive treatments for a tear in the rotator cuff are not sufficient, surgical rotator cuff repair may be indicated. Depending on the injury, our surgeons may be able to complete the rotator cuff repair arthroscopically. An arthroscope is a fiber-optic scope that is inserted into the shoulder joint and used to repair the rotator cuff tendons which have been torn. The tendons are anchored back to the shoulder bone by way of suture anchors.

ORIF (Fracture Repair)

For serious fractures that involve displaced or unstable broken bones, or that involve a joint, ORIF surgery to repair the fracture may be necessary. These types of serious fractures cannot be repaired using a cast or splint. ORIF (open reduction internal fixation) surgery can be very complex, depending on the injury, and our surgeons have received advanced training in performing these procedures.

Ankle Fracture Repair

There are three bones that comprise the ankle joint, and when any one or a combination of the three bones are broken, your orthopedic surgeon will evaluate the damage and recommend a plan for repair. This type of injury can be as simple as manipulating the broken bones back into place and applying a cast, or as complex as having to be surgically repaired through ORIF (open reduction and internal fixation) procedure.

Ankle Replacement

Our podiatric surgeons utilize the latest technology and procedures when performing a total ankle replacement (arthroplasty). Replacement of the ankle joint is necessary when osteoarthritis has damaged the ankle to a degree that it cannot be rehabilitated with less invasive treatments. Technological advancements have greatly improved artificial ankle implants over the last few years and total ankle arthroplasty has become a more common procedure.

Forefoot Reconstruction

Our surgeons specializing in foot and ankle surgery have completed additional years of specific training in these procedures. As they diagnose and treat foot and ankle issues, they take a comprehensive look at the musculoskeletal system from the hips down to the feet in order to identify the true cause of pain, degenerative issues or injuries. A forefoot reconstruction may be necessary when problems develop due to bunions, hammertoes and osteoarthritis, among other conditions.

Spinal Cord Stimulator for Pain Management

A spinal cord stimulator is a device much like a pacemaker which is implanted under the skin at the base of the spinal cord and delivers low levels of electricity directly to the spinal cord. Our doctors have received highly specialized training in implanting these devices and use x-ray or ultrasound guidance during placement.

Steroid Injection for Pain Management

In certain cases your doctor may recommend a steroid injection or spinal cord stimulation for a painful condition.

Blepharoplasty (Upper / Lower)

Blepharoplasty or eyelid lift is a surgical procedure which corrects droopy, heavy, or puffy eyelids, and can dramatically improve an angry, sad, or tired appearance. Many patients desire this procedure for cosmetic reasons, but for some patients correcting upper eyelid drooping may be medically necessary to improve peripheral vision. Lower eyelid puffiness is always considered cosmetic. Our physicians are experienced and well-versed in the subtleties and nuances of the delicate eyelid tissues. They are extensively trained in this particular area and have significantly more experience than surgeons in other specialties who may also perform these procedures.

Ptosis

Ptosis (pronounced “toe-sis”) is drooping of the upper eyelid where the border of the eyelid falls to an abnormally low position. This may be found in children or adults. The eyelid may droop just a little, or to the extent that it covers the pupil. Ptosis can limit or even completely block normal vision. There are several surgical treatment options to correct this problem and potentially improve peripheral vision and appearance. Our physicians have substantial experience with all of these options and are better able to address this more complex problem.
